- I recently bought an USR Courier V.34 modem.
-
- I bought it in the UK and I am trying to use it here in
- the Netherlands. I can send AT commands, only the
- modem refuses to connect to the line, giving an error
- message "NO DIAL TONE".
-
- The phone line is OK. I am using the Dutch phone cable
- with two RJ11 connectors. The UK cable will not fit
- physically into the wall plug.
-
- Did I just do a stupid thing buying a modem in the UK
- and using it in the Netherlands?
-
- Or might there still be some hope? Before starting debugging
- and/or rewiring, etcetera. Is there anyone who has some
- experience with these kind of matters?
-
- Do USR Courier modems destined for the UK, have special
- hardware arrangements for the UK phone network?
-
-
- Kind regards,
- Frans Wiggers (still on 14k4)
- Amsterdam.
