  11. I recently bought an USR Courier V.34 modem.

  13. I bought it in the UK and I am trying to use it here in
  14. the Netherlands. I can send AT commands, only the
  15. modem refuses to connect to the line, giving an error
  16. message "NO DIAL TONE".

  18. The phone line is OK. I am using the Dutch phone cable
  19. with two RJ11 connectors. The UK cable will not fit
  20. physically  into the wall plug.

  22. Did I just do a stupid thing buying a modem in the UK
  23. and using it in the Netherlands?

  25. Or might there still be some hope? Before starting debugging
  26. and/or rewiring, etcetera. Is there anyone who has some
  27. experience with these kind of matters?

  29. Do USR Courier modems destined for the UK, have special
  30. hardware arrangements for the UK phone network?
